post 2...scans dump?
Nov. 16th, 2007 05:45 pmright after the last one again, but that needed to be on it's own, I think.
Yesterday we started on heraldry at school (it's awesome, btw :D). Our teacher mentioned that there are certain ways to indicate that someone is an illegitimate child, even if they are otherwise allowed to use the coat of arms...anyway, long story short, I got an idea to draw saiyuki characters in a 1200 style costume (very logical, yes? :P). I get to make a coat of arm for myself, hee *^__^*
And coincidentally, in the library where I went later to search more information, the books about heraldry were RIGHT next to the ones about history of clothing.
All I remembered about the mens fashion of 1200 was that they wore tights...but it's actually really really cute. I mean...yes, the tights, but also shortdresses coats with bellshaped, sometimes pleated hems and sleeves with long rows of buttons and/or really wide sleeves. The bright colors and patterns are wonderful as well. And frills! (nice kind of simple ones too) Aww...♥
And then there was this other book about chinese clothes I had to drag home and attack with a scanner...
