Old Photos etc

EDIT: Oh right, I found a small caterpillar in my salad at school today. D:
Still need to edit those mermaid Gojyo pics...which is difficult since I drew them on different sides of the same paper. Which bled through something awful. =_=;
But, in the meantime, have some picspam?
First, from Once Upon a Time - Visions of Old Japan from the Photos of Beato and Stillfried and the Words of Pierre Loti. That's all title, I think. =_=
The men who took these pictures travelled to Japan soon after it was first allowed for foreigners.
Felice Beato arrived there first in 1863, and Baron Raimund von Stillfried und Ratenitz slightly later.
The photographs are hand painted (by the artists themselves, I believe).
Worksafe? Well, there's partial nudity in two of them, thought I don't think it's particularly sexual.
EDIT: On the other hand, photobucket seems to disagree. Fine, fine, no vintage boobies then. :/

still cute :3

It's the prince with the cool hat! And the nose. :D *teehee*

Nice background painting there.

Just a half of a photo, I'm afraid. Still, those lotus leaves look surreal.

Lots of personages in the ferry there. :O
text: River Crossing (Felice Beato)

The illustrious stableboy :B *shot for bad pun*

This is one of the pictures that seems so meticulously arranged it's like a painting. That's sort of intriguing by itself.

Want to BE there ¤_¤

Some of these reminded me of woodcuts, talking of which...
while we're at it, from Japanese Book Illustration by Yu-Ying Brown
These are rather more lively than those photos, which I suppose is no surprise. :)

Ah, the joy of studying...:P

Can't you just hear the confusion in the upper pic?

(Wish I could get the halves onto the same level :/ )
Incidentally, the girls are giggly because of the pestle one of them is holding up. So suggestive, pestles...
