some more of the nameless AU

...only now we go back a bit. Just getting the base of this silly thing in order, mostly to myself.
Title: Let's say..."A great battle between the forces of good and evil, just add water part 1

Warnings: AU, very very AU, beware. Names (and in some cases, gender) have been changed to protect the innocent.
Pairing(s): Naah. Or is there? >:D No.
Notes: Once again I think I am very clever...and it's late. -_- (Just wrote this a moment before too) And here I was going to go to bed early...right.
It was a dark and stormy night...well, at least it wasn't on a secluded moor somewhere, Julia thought to herself, as she hurried along the street. Old Vincent probably would have insisted on something like that.
The yellow raincoat Julia was wearing seemed to have a hole in the neck, judging from the cold water seeping through. She sighed and walked faster. A bus stop loomed ahead, was this the one? Seemed to be, but the only person there was a boy, standing under a black umbrella. He glanced at Julia, and turned away, seeming to find her uninteresting. In fact, the boy's demeanor suggested he found many things uninteresting in general. Expensive clothes, if I'm any judge, Julia thought. Probably thinks he's very cool, or whatever they call it these days.
"Shouldn't you be at home this time of night?" She asked cheerfully.
The boy looked at her slowly and raised an eyebrow.
"I've heard this part of town can be dangerous at night." Julia continued in the same tone.
"What? Are you scared?" The boy said.
Julia laughed and shook her head. "No, not me, but you never know what might happen on a night like this, forces of evil might be on the move and all that."
The boy looked away and smirked a bit. "Yeh, could be."
They stood in silence for a long time after that, until Julia sneezed. The cold water had done it's work.
The boy seemed to think whether he should say anything, and then said, sounding slightly annoyed. "You do know there aren't any buses leaving from this station anymore, right?"
"There aren't? Why are you standing here then..."
They looked at each other for a while.
"Don't tell me..."
"You aren't..." They said simultaneously and fell into an awkward silence again.
"You aren't a grumpy old man with a beard that looks like a bush...or two." the boy said finally.
Julia smiled "Thank you, it's good to know. But I must say, you are not exactly what I was expecting either."
"Disappointed?" The boy didn't seem to know if he should be wary or not. Good. He had sharp black eyes, like a crow. What did her grandfather say about them? Better keep them interested, or they'll bite your finger of, just to see what happens...yes, that was it.
"Now why would I be? My opponent is a cute kid!" Julia exclaimed.
"And mine is a creepy old lady, how thrilling."
"Really, I'm only..." A bolt of lightning striking a nearby building interrupted her.
They looked as smoke began to pour out of it, and moments after a high pitched wail announced the arrival of the fire brigade.
Pretty soon the street was full of firemen, curious onlookers, and tenants of the burning house, most in their nightwear. A little dog got free and started running around, yapping excitedly.
Julia and the boy stood among the chaos, in their own bubble of slightly embarrassed calm.
"Doesn't seem to be a good night for battles between good and evil after all." Julia mumbled under her breath, slightly amused. "What do you say we meet again some other time, like...same time next week? I think I have free time then. Oh, my name is Julia Monday, by the way. And I'm thirty-three, so no old lady comments."
The boy took the hand she was offering, trying a bit too hard not to seem confused, and shook her hand.
"Bran Douglas." He mumbled. "And next week is...er, fine."
Julia nodded and smiled a bit ruefully. Then it would be a more serious meeting, she supposed.
Alas, a lot can happen in one week.
