Interviews, why?

As mentioned before, started Ethnology I last monday, and our first seminar is next wednesday, and is supposed to be 3 hours fieldwork + 2-3 pages text on "waiting". And the two hour discussion, of course. I didn't realize at first that we're also expected to do interviews, though.
So, talking to strangers who might already be in a bad mood/think I was selling something/other awkwardness? I'll just be. Shaking over here.
On one hand this is probably something I should get used to if I want to continue studying, on the other... I just want to cheat and interview people I know? Or maybe find a place where I actually feel comfortable asking strangers stuff/where they'd be less inclined to be wary. I was at the nearest second hand store (a Red Cross one) yesterday and the staff seemed nice, maybe I could ask them about what it's like waiting for customers? and then maybe in a few other places where people wait. University bookstore could work too... wonder if it's ok if I just do observation in some places, like the communal traffic places? I should start today but... today is supposed to be my recovery day from being tired all week so nopes, not going out (even though it's only -9.4 C / 15 F). I'll just think about the questions. And maybe read some literature.
Still waiting for most of my course books as I went to the second hand uni bookstore, gathered together what they had (which was all but two books + compendium, which they ran out of at the bookstore and more will come maybe sometime next week) then counted that they'd cost ~600 krona and went "ahaha nope"
Luckily the library had all and not even with a long line except for two! So hopefully they'll arrive soon.
For those two that DID have a line, I thought I'd buy them, and I did one, for about 89kr with student discount, but the other... it cost over 120kr with discount. And I mean, it's a 113 page book in smaller than A5 format and looks like it was home printed. Printing paper covers. It's not a book, it's a leaflet. It's also from year 1983.
Possibly it's printed by the uni like the compendiums are (which also are insanely priced. My first cost 329kr and it is a A4 stack of papers held together with two staples. Well, one fell off the first day so one staple now). Anyway, I tried again reserving this amazing leaflet from the library, and if it doesn't arrive before the exam I might reconsider buying it. MIGHT.
EDIT: Ended up working on a new CV and job application because they're urgent. I think this is the first time I don't feel super anxious (only a little) about doing this, because it's actually a job I'm really interested in? Funny that. Still need to eat now before I tackle the letter again though.
