So, there's this guy in our class. I've known for a while he's very srs bzness about religion, but since he seemed like an intelligent person I thought: Okay, I shouldn't get weirded out just because christianity is so important to this person, live and let live and so on.
Then yesterday we were talking about these things, me and him and another girl in our class, and the discussion happened on the issue of homosexuality. And he basically said (thought not in those exact words) that it's wrong because it says so in the bible.
Frankly, I was shocked.
I'd already said earlier that I didn't think the bible should be interpreted literally because even if we assume the original message or whatever was 100% "right", I couldn't see how it could have survived as such after all this time and translations ETC.
Just doesn't make any sense.
And then I actually walked away (to my shame) and left the other girl arguing the issue because she seemed to be doing it much better. But since they were still talking about it later I tried to make a point about all the OTHER things said in the book that people don't exactly follow these days. But it was pretty weak since I couldn't remember any exact stuff *fail* :(
I'm kinda want to get a copy of the bible andbash this guy in the head with it quote agressively all the crazier bits and ask him to explain THIS and THIS and THIS. >:/
So if it wouldn't be fair, neither is condemning people. Dammit.
